BAM THERAPY

Body and Mind Therapy offers Yoga and Psychology treatments in Exeter and online to support recovery from:

*Anxiety including panic, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety

*Mood problems including low mood, depression, and bipolar disorder

*Trauma including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex-PTSD

*Psychosis experiences including hearing voices, seeing things, paranoia and suspiciousness

*Eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder

*Low self-esteem, negative sense of self and identity, self-criticism and shame

All of the therapies are trauma-informed which means that they:

Centre upon an understanding of the ways that exposure to trauma shapes a person on multiple levels

Actively support, encourage, and develop psychological, emotional and physical safety

Provide practices and experiences that support healing and post-traumatic growth

Respond to trauma experiences appropriately and work in ways to prevent re-traumatisation

Clinical Psychologist DClinPsy

Dr Kayleigh Darch is a Clinical Psychologist trained to doctoral level with significant experiences working in mental health services since 2009.  She is highly experienced in supporting adults in their recovery from mental health problems. Kayleigh is a dedicated and compassionate psychologist who has worked with trauma over her entire career. She has clinical expertise and skills with compassion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based interventions. She is able to draw upon different therapeutic approaches to offer individualised and person-centred psychological therapy based on your unique circumstances and needs.

Experienced Yoga Teacher

Kayleigh has been practicing yoga since 2005 and teaching yoga since 2016. Ashtanga Vinyasa and yin yoga form the foundations of her personal practice and the yoga she offers. Kayleigh is an Experienced Yoga Teacher holding over 2000 hours of teaching experience working with individuals, groups, businesses and corporations, and charity organisations. The yoga she teaches is accessible to everybody (every.body.welcome) and focuses on developing self-compassion, self-acceptance and personal growth. Kayleigh offers wellbeing yoga that links movements with the breath including dynamic, energising and strengthening yoga, and gentle, restorative and grounding yoga practices.

Psychology-enhanced Yoga

Kayleigh specialises in integrative approaches that combine evidence-based psychological theory and therapies with yoga practices. She has completed advanced and specialist training in Yoga CBT (yoga combined with cognitive behavioural therapy) and has experience of offering this in many settings including with community groups, individuals, and staff groups. Kayleigh has developed the Compassionate Flow Yoga approach from these trainings and experiences.  

Trauma-informed Yoga Teacher

To enrich the psychology-enhanced yoga offerings, Kayleigh has explored and completed specialist trainings in trauma-informed yoga. She qualified as an Accredited Trauma-informed Yoga Teacher in 2023 through the completion of a 100-hour advanced yoga teaching certificate. Her personal trauma-informed yoga journey and trainings have supported the development of her approach which joins together the worlds of psychology and yoga.
