CLINICALLY-INFORMED YOGA

Specialised evidence-based yoga for mental health in Devon and online

What is clinically-informed yoga?

Clinically-informed yoga is a unique therapeutic approach where psychology is fused with yoga. It goes beyond what is available in standard yoga classes due to the inclusion of evidence-based psychological theory, knowledge and interventions.

What is involved in clinically-informed yoga?

These are yoga for mental health sessions, workshops and programs. They can be formed with traditional yoga methods that stem from ashtanga vinyasa yoga (exploring breath linked with dynamic movement) and yin yoga (a stillness stretching style of yoga). The part that makes it a distinguished approach to managing your wellbeing is the expert blending of psychological concepts and practices alongside and with traditional yoga.

Evidence-based psychological yoga models that can be incorporated include yoga CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and trauma-informed yoga. Clinically-informed yoga can also integrate other validated psychotherapy models including compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, acceptance and commitment therapy, and traditional CBT.

All yoga services are delivered by HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, Dr Kayleigh Darch. This ensures that you will be supported with doctoral-level knowledge and skills by someone with advanced clinical and specialist trainings in safe and inclusive spaces.
